The temple handed over 114 turtles and released them into the wild

DanangMore than 100 turtles released by people at the lake at Nam Son pagoda were handed over to rangers by the pagoda and released to Cuc Phuong National Park.

On April 25, Hoa Vang Forest Ranger District said it received 114 individual turtles including: striped turtles and box turtles from Nam Son Pagoda (Hoa Chau commune, Hoa Vang district) that voluntarily surrendered. These are turtles released by people at the temple over the years.

Previously, the forest ranger department had lobbied the temple to hand it over. This unit also contacted the nature protection center in Hanoi to send people to take the turtles to Cuc Phuong National Park to research, classify species, determine their habitat, and release them into the wild.

Nam Son is a large temple in Da Nang, attracting many people and tourists to visit and pray. There is a large lake in the temple grounds and many people often release turtles and fish here. Because many species are released into the lake, their habitat is not guaranteed.
