At least 50 people have died in an attack perpetrated by armed men during a mass at the Catholic Church of San Francisco Javier, in the Nigerian town of Owo, in the south of the country, according to medical sources confirmed to the ‘Nigerian Tribune’ portal.

Witnesses from the affiliate of the British BBC network have indicated that the attackers opened fire indiscriminately against the population before kidnapping a priest and other parishioners.
The attackers have also detonated explosives inside the church and shot at bystanders who were nearby, according to sources from the news portal ‘The Nation’.
