Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a telephone conversation that lasted more than an hour.
The interlocutors discussed issues of regional conflict and peace efforts, the Office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan said.
According to the statement, Pezeshkian told Sharif that negotiations needed trust and praised Islamabad’s role in efforts to promote peace.
The two leaders also discussed ongoing fighting, with Sharif briefing Pezeshkian on his diplomatic efforts with the United States and Gulf states.
