The Russian Federal Security Service announced the identification of an employee of the British Embassy in Moscow who was involved in intelligence activities. This is the second secretary of the diplomatic mission, Albertus Gerardus Janse Van Rensburg.
According to Russian intelligence services, there are signs of intelligence and subversive activities that threaten the security of the Russian Federation, and attempts have been recorded to obtain sensitive information through unofficial contacts with Russian economists.
Chargé d’Affaires of Great Britain in Russia, Deini Dolakia, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she was protested, including because the diplomat had provided deliberately false information when entering the Russian Federation.
“Moscow will not tolerate the activities of undeclared members of the British intelligence services on Russian territory, and our uncompromising line on this issue will continue to be formulated in accordance with the interests of national security. In addition, a warning has been given that if London escalates, the Russian side will immediately give the necessary response,” the ministry said.
