Russian authorities have confirmed the death of the commander of the Northern Fleet aviation in Crimea

Governor of the Murmansk region Andrei Chibis officially announced that Lieutenant General Alexander Otroshchenko died as a result of a plane crash in Crimea. Earlier information about this appeared in the media.

“Among the dead, including, unfortunately, the commander of the mixed aviation corps of the Northern Fleet, Alexander Ivanovich Otroshchenko, with whom we had met literally a couple of days before,” the governor said. Those present honored the memory of the crash victims with a minute of silence.

The military transport An-26 crashed on March 31 in the Bakhchisarai region of Crimea. Six crew members and 23 passengers were killed, including officers from the Northern Fleet Air Force command. The plane crashed into a rock, the reason why this happened is being established.
