The United Kingdom reports that a projectile hit a tanker in Hormuz

Shortly after US President Donald Trump’s announcement to “escort” the ships of “neutral” countries out of the Strait of Hormuz, the United Kingdom’s Maritime Trade Agency reported that a projectile of unknown origin hit a tanker in the waterway, Reuters writes.

Few details are known. It is only noted that the incident took place 78 nautical miles from the coast of the United Arab Emirates, and there were no casualties.

In response to the US-Israeli joint attack against Iran launched on February 28, Iran has blocked a significant part of cargo transportation through Hormuz. Because of this, global energy prices have increased rapidly.

After the cease-fire was established on April 8, Washington announced the blockade of Hormuz, during which American forces have already seized several ships.

Before the war, 20 percent of the world’s consumed oil and gas passed through the Strait of Hormuz.

After the start of the war, it was regularly reported that Iran had shot down ships in Hormuz.
