General Schill presents national service: “It is not a first step towards generalized conscription”

Goodbye to the universal national service (SNU), which has never met its audience, and long live national service! The change is not just a semantic shift, since this “citizen” training, which was under the supervision of the Ministry of National Education, falls into the fold of the Armed Forces.

Completely overhauled, this system plans to enlist 3,000 young people for ten months, starting in September. Structured around an initial training of four weeks, before they join their regiment for nine months, it aims to harden them in the spirit of defense, by promoting this post-baccalaureate or university gap year.
