The world’s first 24-hour women-only beach opens in Dubai

The world’s first 24-hour private beach exclusively for women has opened in Dubai. Only women work on the territory of the complex, and a special area for night swimming is equipped for visitors, writes The Independent. The new beach is located on the Al Mamzar promenade in the north-eastern part of the emirate and opened to visitors and local residents in early May. To ensure privacy, the area was fenced off, a complete ban on photography and video was introduced, and modern smart video surveillance systems were installed.

The project was part of a large-scale reconstruction of the Al Mamzar area, aimed at developing the beach infrastructure of Dubai. Emirati authorities said the upgrades are part of an overall public beach development program costing around AED 3 billion (US$817 million).

Although the country already has separate women’s beaches and special women’s days, the new complex is the first in the UAE to be open only for women 24 hours a day. The beach covers an area of about 125 thousand square meters. Only women work here – from security to rescuers. For families, there is a children’s playground where boys under six years of age are allowed to enter, accompanied by their mothers. For safe recreation at night, rescue towers and a modern lighting system were installed on the beach so that visitors could swim even at night.

The Dubai Municipality expects that after the completion of the second stage of reconstruction, Al Mamzar embankment will be able to welcome up to seven million tourists annually. The head of the Public Facilities Agency of the Dubai Municipality, Badr Anwahi, noted that Khor Al Mamzar Beach is one of the city’s key projects, the goal of which is to improve the coastal infrastructure and turn the beach area into a full-fledged space for recreation at any time of the day or night.
