Russian foreign intelligence has threatened to strike Latvian “decision-making centers”

The Russian Foreign Intelligence Service issued a statement claiming that the Ukrainian authorities intend to use the territory of the Baltic countries to launch UAVs into the rear regions of the Russian Federation. According to allegations, these countries have already opened their airspace to Ukrainian UAVs.

“Despite the Latvian side’s fears of becoming a victim of Moscow’s retaliatory strike, the Kyiv authorities convinced Riga to consent to the operation. The Ukrainians emphasized that the exact location of the UAV launch would be impossible to determine. As a result, the cavernous Russophobia of the current rulers of Latvia turned out to be stronger than the ability for critical thinking and a sense of self-preservation,” the SVR states.

Russian intelligence services claim that military personnel from the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have already been sent to Latvia, and list the military bases where they are supposedly stationed: “We can only sympathize with the naivety of the Latvian leaders. Modern reconnaissance means make it possible to reliably establish the coordinates of the UAV’s launch point.”

“At the same time, it would be useful to recall that the coordinates of decision-making centers on Latvian territory are well known, and the country’s membership in NATO will not protect terrorist accomplices from fair retribution,” the SVR states.

Latvian President Edgars Rinkevich said: Russia’s claims about providing Latvian airspace to Ukrainian UAVs are a lie. Foreign Minister Baiba Braže also stated that Russia is waging a disinformation campaign against Latvia.

Let us recall that on May 13, the State Duma of the Russian Federation adopted in the second and third, final readings a law allowing, by decision of the president, to use formations of the Russian Armed Forces to protect Russian citizens subject to persecution abroad. It makes the Baltic states particularly vulnerable to Russian aggression.
