Köln – The next twist in the case surrounding the missing Tengelmann billionaire Karl-Erivan Haub: The Cologne public prosecutor’s office has brought charges against his brother Christian Haub (62)! Accusation: false declaration under oath. Karl-Erivan Haub, former boss of the Tengelmann Group, disappeared in April 2018 during a ski tour on the Klein Matterhorn near Zermatt in Switzerland. Despite extensive searches, no body has been found to date. A spokesman for the Cologne Regional Court confirmed receipt of the indictment dated April 13th by the German Press Agency. Manager Magazine had previously reported.
After the disappearance of his brother Karl-Erivan Haub (then 58), Christian Haub took over sole management of the billion-dollar retail group, which includes, among other things, the textile discounter Kik and the hardware store chain Obi. Now the mysterious case is once again becoming the focus of the judiciary. Reason: Christian Haub may not have provided all the information he knew about in the death declaration process.

In May 2021, Haub swore that he had no evidence of his brother’s survival. The Cologne District Court then declared this Missing officially declared dead. But speculation that Karl-Erivan Haub could have faked his death continued.
Photos are said to show the missing billionaire

Research by the broadcaster RTL also revealed: Christian Haub himself is said to have commissioned the procurement of the photos, for allegedly more than one million euros! It is unclear whether the images are actually real. The Public Prosecutor’s Office believes: Contrary to his statements, Christian Haub had reliable evidence that his brother could still be alive. Mark Binz, Christian Haub’s lawyer, did not initially comment. A spokeswoman for Tengelmann said: “This is a private matter for Mr. Haub, so we are not commenting on the company’s side.” The court will now examine whether there is sufficient suspicion and the Accusation is admitted to the main hearing.
