In Croatia there is a restriction on alcohol, "too many drunk tourists"

The Parliament of Croatia has passed a law which allows local governments to limit the hours of alcohol sales at night in shops, with the aim of curbing excessive alcohol consumption by tourists, causing public disorder in the busiest tourist locations.
In recent years, local media and social networks have been flooded with images and videos of drunken tourists they drink on the street, urinate in public, they make noise and disturb the lives of residents, especially at night.

Unanimity

The 117 MPs in the 151-seat assembly unanimously approved changes to the trade law that allow cities and municipalities to limit the hours of alcohol sales in shops to “protect public health, public order, cultural heritage and the environment”. The measure does not apply to bars and restaurants. Tourism Minister Tonci Glavina said the aim is to improve the quality of life of residents.

In Split bans from 9pm

The mayor of Split, a popular summer tourist destination now infamous for drunken tourists, has announced that the city will ban the sale of alcohol from 9pm to 6am. The aim is to “counter drunkenness and disorderly behaviour” in the city’s public spaces, particularly in the historic centre, Mayor Tomislav Suta said. Split, about 400 kilometers south of the capital Zagreb, is built around the ancient palace of the Roman emperor Diocletian.

Where is Zara?

Other well-known tourist destinations, such as the island of Hvar, famous for its nightlife, and the coastal city of Zadar, have also announced the possibility of introducing a similar ban. Zagreb Mayor Tomislav Tomasevic said the capital was considering the option. Tourism represents a significant part of the Croatian economy, contributing to approximately 20% of its GDP. Last year, the country, with a population of 3.8 million inhabitants, he almost welcomed 22 million tourists. Visitors flock mainly to the Adriatic coast, dotted with beyond 1,000 islands and islets.
