Trump threatened to resume strikes on Iran if Tehran does not comply with agreements

US President Donald Trump said that the interim agreement with Iran is not final and threatened to resume hostilities if he does not like the final agreement or Tehran does not comply with the agreements.

Reuters reports that this was said in a conversation between Trump and reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains, France.

“This is a memorandum of understanding. And if I don’t like it, we will return to strikes, to dropping bombs. If I don’t like it, if they do not comply with the agreements, we will immediately return to bombing,” the US President said.

According to Trump, the memorandum of understanding with Iran does not provide for the immediate lifting of sanctions on Tehran.

At the same time, he highly appreciated the framework agreements reached by his administration. “It’s a very strong deal. Nobody knows what it is, but it’s very strong and most people seem to be very happy,” Trump said.

Time of Israel writes that at a bilateral meeting with the Indian Prime Minister, Trump was asked whether he wanted Israel to stop military action against Hezbollah in Lebanon, to which he replied: “No, I want Israel to be able to defend itself, but I also want it to be cautious.”

The memorandum of understanding with Iran has not yet been officially published. The document, consisting of 14 points, was published a day earlier by the Al-Arabiya TV channel. The TV channel claims that this is the text of the agreement. This document talks about the opening of the Strait of Hormuz, economic concessions to Tehran, in turn, Iran undertakes not to produce nuclear weapons and at a later stage to discuss the fate of enriched materials and other issues related to the Iranian nuclear program.
