Six days after the devastating double earthquake in Venezuela, a three-year-old boy was rescued alive from the rubble, according to Jordanian rescue workers. The boy received first aid on site and was taken to a hospital, the Jordanian Civil Defense said on Tuesday.
On June 24, two strong earthquakes shook Venezuela, and by Tuesday more than 1,900 victims had been rescued. More than 10,500 people were injured.
This was announced by the President of the National Assembly Jorge Rodríguez. In the severely affected La Guaira region, there is still no trace of around 10,000 people. According to estimates, there were around 30,000 people in just two towns in La Guaira – Catia La Mar and Caraballeda – at the time of the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes on Wednesday evening.
According to the authorities, around 13,500 of them were able to get to safety themselves and around 6,400 others were rescued by rescue workers in the days afterwards, said Rodríguez. He did not provide any information about the missing 10,000 people.
