After the intervention of Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, the Italian Ambassador to Cairo Agostino Palese obtained the release of the Italian citizen Nessy Guerra who returned to her home with the little girl. This was reported by informed sources.
The Egyptian police authorities claimed that the reason for the arrest was an executive order, according to which the father of the minor Aisha, Tamer Hamouda, would have the right to see his daughter Aisha, without however providing further information.
Guerra, originally from Sanremo accused of adultery after the complaint from her Italian-Egyptian ex-husband Tamer Hamouda, was sentenced last April 28th by Egyptian judges, who confirmed the sentence issued in first instance last February 19th.
The Italian citizen Nessy Guerra, involved for months in a court case with her ex-husband, was picked up this morning in Cairo and transferred to a police station where she was joined for assistance by the Italian Ambassador Agostino Palese and the Consul Giulia De Nardis who have been assisting her compatriot and her 3-year-old daughter for months. This was announced by the Farnesina.
Apparently the reason for the summons would be an order from the Egyptian judge to show the little girl to her father Tamer Hamouda. Custody of the minor is the central point of a long dispute with her ex-husband, who in turn was convicted in Italy for various crimes and was recently arrested and then released on bail for threatening the Italian consul in Hurghada. The Farnesina confirms that “the Italian Government is currently putting pressure on the Egyptian authorities at the highest level to guarantee maximum protection for the compatriot and the little girl, above all to avoid new episodes of violence or threats from the husband”.
