Iran points out that the terms of the agreement with the US “are absolutely clear” and that Trump must “control” Israel

Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araqchi, stressed this Wednesday that the terms of the agreement reached with the United States “are absolutely clear” and include the situation in Lebanon, where he assures that the American president, Donald Trump, committed to “keeping under control” his Israeli allies.

“The terms of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding are absolutely clear and public for everyone to see. The president of the United States is committed to keeping his allies in Tel Aviv under control,” the Iranian foreign minister said in a message on social media at a time when Qatar hosts delegations from the United States and Iran for indirect contacts on the implementation of the memorandum.

In this way, Araqchi has warned that if Israel “disobeys its leader” Tehran will respond and “teach them a lesson.” “Any threat against our people or our leaders will receive an immediate and forceful response,” he warned.

This message responds to the threat launched by the Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, when a few days ago he assured that the Iranian supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, was “marked as a target for assassination” and warned that Israel could resume the war against Iran “tomorrow” if necessary, reiterating that it will not leave any Iranian attack unanswered.

Tehran insists that the commitments established in the preliminary agreement that the two parties reached on June 18 must be met to achieve progress in the negotiations, while the Trump Administration insists on meetings between Tehran and Washington in Doha.

In any case, the situation in Lebanon is at this moment the weakest piece of the agreement, after Israel has insisted that it will not withdraw from the south of the country or cease its military operations against the Shii militia party Hezbollah, while Tehran insists that the agreement sealed with Washington also affects Lebanon and enshrines respect for its territorial integrity and sovereignty.
