Japanese authorities reported this Wednesday that a new earthquake of magnitude 6 on the open Richter scale has been recorded in the Iwate prefecture, in the northeast of the country.
The Japanese Meteorological Agency has indicated in a statement that the earthquake occurred in the sea off the country’s coast at around 9:00 p.m. (local time). The hypocenter is located at a depth of 40 kilometers, according to this information.
The maximum intensity of the tremor has reached 4 degrees, as established by the 7-level national seismic scale. To date, no tsunami warning has been issued and no victims or injuries have been reported.
