Chairman of the Iranian Parliament: “The era of unilateral agreements is over”

Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Tehran no longer intends to comply with the agreements unilaterally.

“The era of unilateral agreements is over. We warned: fulfill your obligations or pay the price. Reality is already knocking on the door,” Ghalibaf wrote on the social network X.

He attached to the message a fragment of the fifth paragraph of the memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States. According to this provision, after signing the document, Iran pledged to make every effort within 60 days to ensure safe and free passage of commercial ships between the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.

Thus, Ghalibaf made it clear that he considers Washington to have violated the terms of the memorandum and connects Iran’s current actions in the Strait of Hormuz with the failure of the American side to fulfill its obligations. Specifically, what provisions of the agreement, in his opinion, were violated, the publication does not specify.
