Neo-Nazi Liebig was extradited to Germany and placed in a men’s prison, despite his “gender reassignment”

German neo-Nazi Marla-Svenya Liebig, formerly known as Sven Liebig and associated with the banned group Blood and Honor, has been extradited from the Czech Republic to Germany. Czech courts rejected Liebig’s objections to extradition. At the hearing, he stated that he was afraid of ending up in a men’s prison and being subjected to violence there.

After arriving in Germany, Liebig was initially taken to Chemnitz Women’s Prison because his gender was officially registered as female and his name was changed to Marla-Svenya. However, on the same day, the administration of the institution, after consultation with specialists, ordered the prisoner to be transferred to Zeithain men’s prison. Saxony’s Justice Ministry said the decision was made by prison management without ministerial intervention.

In 2023, Liebig, then officially a man, was sentenced to 18 months in prison without the possibility of parole for incitement to hatred, libel, insults and home invasion. In August 2025, he did not appear to serve his sentence and disappeared. In April 2026, Liebig was detained in the Czech Republic near the border with Germany.

Separate proceedings are ongoing at the Halle District Court. Authorities in the Zale district demanded the reversal of the name and gender record change in December 2025, arguing that Liebig had used the self-determination law not to change gender identity, but to discredit the law, expose public authorities to ridicule and mock transgender people.
