US President Donald Trump published a statement on the Truth Social network, according to which the implementation of the nuclear treaty concluded with Saudi Arabia will depend on the kingdom’s accession to the Abraham Accords, that is, recognition of Israel.
“A peaceful nuclear treaty (excluding the possibility of enrichment) that provides Saudi Arabia with only non-military uses – as Iran and the United Arab Emirates do – will be approved, but this is entirely dependent on Saudi Arabia joining the hugely successful Abraham Accords,” he wrote.
As part of the agreements, Israel signed a peace treaty with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan. It was assumed that Saudi Arabia would also do this, but the kingdom’s authorities refused to do this without Israeli steps towards the creation of a Palestinian state.
