Second division soccer team Hertha BSC has extended the contract with 35-time Croatian international Josip Brekalo until 2028. The Berliners announced this.
“Since his arrival in Berlin in the winter, Josip immediately identified very strongly with Hertha BSC and was an important factor in our game and in the team,” said sports director Benjamin Weber. “We are therefore very pleased that Josip has now clearly committed to Hertha BSC and that we can continue to rely on his experience and goal threat in the future.”
The 28-year-old Brekalo came to Berlin from Spanish club Real Oviedo in January. The attacking midfielder previously played in Germany for VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart. He took part in the 2021 European Championship for Croatia. He played his last international match three years ago.
