14th night of military confrontation between the United States and Iran: strikes on military targets

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the targets included Iranian naval forces, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance assets and air defense facilities. CENTCOM said the strikes should limit Iran’s ability to attack civilian ships and commercial shipping.

US commanders said they struck dozens of Iranian military targets on land during July and renewed the naval blockade of Iran. U.S. forces diverted nine commercial vessels and disabled another to prevent it from entering or leaving an Iranian port, according to CENTCOM. More than 50 thousand American troops are involved in operations in the Middle East.

Iranian state and government-linked media reported strikes in several provinces of the country. The most severe consequences were recorded in the area of ​​the Shalamcheh border crossing on the Iran-Iraq border. According to Iranian authorities, at least two people were killed and 11 others were injured as a result of the missile attack. Tehran blamed the attack on the United States. There is no independent confirmation of these data yet.

Valiollah Hayati, deputy governor of Khuzestan province for security affairs, told Mehr that the attack hit the area around the border point. In addition, according to him, an American missile hit one of the targets near the city of Endymeshq in southwestern Iran. The nature of the object and the consequences of the attack have not been reported.

In Bushehr province, local authorities reported two attacks, one of which was directed against a military facility. According to the deputy governor of the province, Ehsan Jahanian, the second strike occurred at about four o’clock in the morning. Explosions were also reported from Sirik district in Hormozgan province and from the port city of Jask. Iran’s Press TV reported that several explosions were heard in Jask.

At the same time, drones were intercepted over Erbil, the capital of Iraqi Kurdistan. According to the Iraqi Shafaq News agency, four explosions related to the operation of air defense systems were heard in different parts of the city. Earlier, the headquarters of the Kurdistan Freedom Party, an Iranian Kurdish opposition organization operating in Iraq, was hit. At least six casualties were reported.

The United States has not yet published a complete list of targets of the night operation and has not commented on reports of deaths at the Shalamcheh crossing.
