Ursula von der Leyen says that images of Ceuta are “unacceptable” and asks for “quick returns” | Spain | Morocco latest

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, said this Friday that the images coming from Ceuta, where thousands of people from Morocco crossed irregularly through the border breakwater into Spanish territory, “are unacceptable” and added that “the returns must be quick, as our rules allow”.

On the other hand, Šuica “is in contact with his Moroccan counterpart”, he added.

“I am confident that our close collaboration with Morocco will contribute to obtaining concrete results,” Von der Leyen concluded.

A community spokesperson told EFE this Thursday that “the Commission has been providing operational and financial support to Spain, also in Ceuta. And we are willing to offer more support to Spain, both financial and through additional technical and operational assistance, including through Frontex.”
