Technology museums and former factories in Brandenburg invite you to special explorations on Saturday – on Industrial Culture Day. The nationwide day of action will open at 11 a.m. in the historic glassmaking village of Glashütte near Baruth, as the Industrial Culture Tourist Network in Brandenburg announced.
The aim of the day is to bring industrial culture out of its niche. Former industrial facilities and technology museums from Prignitz in the north to Lausitz in the south offer rare insights, tours, excursions, hands-on activities and art.
At the Niederfinow ship lift, for example, a sunset tour of the lift is planned at 5 p.m. A light show and fireworks are on the program in the F60 visitor mine from 7 p.m. According to the organizers, insider tips include the Lauchhammer art casting museum and the Louise briquette factory in the Elbe-Elster-Land.
Over 30 locations can be explored on Saturday. An overview of the program can be found at www.reiseland-brandenburg.de. The Industrial Culture Action Day is an initiative of the Museum Association and the Brandenburg Industrial Culture Tourist Network. It is always organized on the second weekend in August.
