Arrest was chosen as a preventive measure against the chairman of the “Public Voice” party, Vardan Ghukasyan. measures have been taken to transfer him to Armenia, reports the Investigative Committee.
According to the report, sufficient factual information was obtained from Vardan Ghukasyan, known by the nickname “Dog”, Artak Galstyan, who are the leaders of the “Public Voice” party, as well as two other persons from citizen T.A. 53 million 806 thousand 500 drams. extorting the equivalent of 110 thousand dollars, as well as submitting property claims to the responsible representative of the night club under the guise of providing services, especially large extortion in the amount of 60,000-100,000 dollars.
A public criminal prosecution has been initiated against Ghukasyan and Galstyan, as well as Vardan Ghukasyan, two more criminals, for extorting large amounts within the group. Charges were filed against Aartak Galstyan and the two mentioned persons, detention was chosen as a preventive measure against them.
According to the Investigation, during the conducted operational and evidentiary actions, factual data was also obtained that Ghukasyan was arrested in 2021. On July 9, he showed disrespect to the court during a video speech published in a format accessible to the public on YouTube, a personal page opened under his name.
In addition, in 2022 on November 12, through his personal YouTube and Facebook pages available to the general public, he made public calls to commit violence against a group of people, contract servicemen, due to political views and justified such violence against them.
Based on the obtained facts, a public criminal prosecution was initiated against the chairman of the “Public Voice” party. Ghukasyan was detained as a preventive measure.
According to the information received from the Police of the RA Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Police has taken measures to conduct an international investigation against him through Interpol.
According to the Investigative Committee, information was obtained that Vardan Ghukasyan is in the United States of America. The package of all the necessary documents related to the criminal proceedings, as well as the international request for legal assistance to the competent authorities of the USA regarding the necessary assistance in finding Ghukasyan and transferring him to the competent authorities of the Republic of Armenia, was forwarded to the General Prosecutor’s Office in order to ensure the necessary procedure in that direction.
