Irene Cecchini to Putin: “I dream of Russian citizenship”

My dream is to have Russian citizenship“. This was said in a telephone interview with ‘Il Cittadino’ of Lodi by Irene Cecchini, the 23-year-old student who was the protagonist of the dialogue with President Vladimir Putin yesterday. The student’s question, with Putin’s response, found wide space on all Russian media and websites. Cecchini’s photo was also included in the gallery that the Kremlin website dedicated to the Forum in which Putin participated.

Who is Irene Cecchini

Irene Cecchini, originally from Lodi, moved to Moscow immediately after high school to study at the State Institute for International Relations. The girl in a forum yesterday asked Putin a question about Italy and he replied in nostalgic tones: “Italy has always been close to us, I remember how they welcomed me, I felt at home there”. In June 2023, during the third academic year, she presented herself with an interview on the website of the Institute she attends in Moscow in who wrote: “The State Institute of International Relations is one of the leading universities in Russia in international relations and has a long history of prestigious alumni. Its commitment to academic excellence and research has resulted in numerous publications of academic articles, research papers and books. It offers extensive extracurricular activities, such as conferences with high-level professionals in different fields, with ministries and international organizations. All these possibilities help students deepen their interest and passion in different fields.”
