Tragedy: 11 tourists were killed when a bus overturned abroad

At least 11 people were killed and 31 others were injured when a tourist bus overturned in the state of Niarit in western Mexico, according to Reuters reports. The bus, which was traveling from Jalisco state, veered off the highway and overturned near the town of Amatlan de Canas, the government of Nayarit state said.

According to officials, the passengers were on their way to an entertainment center in Nayarit. Emergency teams from Niarrit and Jalisco rushed to the scene and closed the road to carry out rescue operations and investigate the cause of the accident. The whereabouts of the two tourists who were killed and injured are still unknown.

This is not the first time something like this has happened in the country. Last September, at least 10 people were killed and at least 61 injured in central Mexico when a freight train collided with a double-decker passenger bus. In February 2025, more than 40 people were killed in southern Mexico when a bus traveling to Tabasco from the tourist city of Cancun hit a tow truck and caught fire.
