The most important thing, according to Gilbert, is to understand that the business class, even though it sounds shiny, is not always as amazing as you think, and it is important to know this in order not to be disappointed and then demand more. On quite a few flights, especially on short flights in narrow-body planes, the business class amounts to an upgraded and slightly more comfortable seat, alcohol and not much more. On flights within Europe, this business class was named – “European Business Class”.
In order to get the service you imagine, you will have to pay quite a bit for a flight in business class to distant destinations on wide-body planes, where business class is usually more indulgent, or alternatively buy a ticket for first class, where the service experience is at a different level, no matter which flight you are on. The price of course depends. It is important to note that quite a few airlines have abandoned first class and offer only business class.
Another thing is to understand that even though you pay a lot of money, the plane is still not your home and you can’t do what you want in it, especially when you are surrounded by people who also paid a lot of money to enjoy peace and comfort. For example, do not scatter your personal equipment in a way that disturbs the passengers around you.
Another thing to be careful of is to avoid jumping over a passenger. In the crowded tourist class there is no choice, but in the advanced classes, including those where everyone has their own large area, it is important to respect the personal space of the surrounding passengers. Anywhere it is not pleasant to sleep and find out that someone is climbing on top of you, especially in business class.
