Dubai Airports: Suspension of operations for 25 minutes and cancellation of 45 flights

Dubai Airports confirmed that operations are still significantly affected at Dubai International Airport (DXB) due to the heavy rains and floods that occurred today, Tuesday, April 16.

Dubai Airports said in a statement: “Due to the strong storm, operations were temporarily suspended for 25 minutes this afternoon, but have since resumed. 21 departing flights and 24 arriving flights have been canceled since 00:02 local time this morning, while 3 flights were diverted to other nearby airports.

The statement warned that there are major floods on the roads leading to the airport, and current weather forecasts indicate that unstable weather will continue to cause delays until the dawn hours of Wednesday, April 17.

Dubai Airports said: Response teams have been activated at Dubai airports, and we are working closely with airlines and our other partners to return operations to normal as soon as possible.

Dubai Airports urged travelers to check directly with their airline, to obtain the latest information about the status of their flight, to allocate travel time to reach the airport, and to use the Dubai Metro for smoother movement. Note that working hours on the Dubai Metro have been extended until 03:00 am local time.
