Ho Chi Minh City holds the second bread festival

The second Vietnamese Bread Festival will take place from May 17 to May 19 at Le Van Tam Park, District 1, expected to welcome 100,000 visitors.

Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that the 2nd Vietnamese Bread Festival in 2024 with the theme “Vietnamese Bread – World Cuisine Value” is expected to have a larger scale than last year.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Khanh, Chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City Tourism Association, said the festival is not only an entertainment event but also identified as a cultural tourism product with Vietnamese characteristics. The event will have activities to promote Vietnamese culinary culture, creating space for visitors to learn about the history of bread through the ages.

The festival brings together about 130-150 booths, including famous bread brands with more than 50 years of history, restaurants serving dishes with bread, units providing seasoning ingredients, and serving equipment. Bread making technology service. According to Ms. Khanh, the event is also a place for chefs, artisans, and bakers to create new dishes and compete. Visitors also have the opportunity to participate in the bread making process and enjoy bread at the oven.

The highlight activity of this year’s festival is the space for 150 chefs to perform, setting a record for the number of dishes with bread. These dishes will represent the diversity of typical cuisine from many localities across the country.

The festival space will have a dragon-shaped welcome gate made of bread, made by leading artisans and bakers, with the meaning of bringing Vietnamese bread far. In addition, there is also an area to experience the history of formation and development of Vietnamese bread. A representative of the organizing committee said that the issue of ensuring food safety and hygiene is given top priority, and the Department of Food Safety will coordinate implementation and closely monitor. This year’s festival is expected to attract about 100,000 visitors to visit and experience.

The bread festival was first held in 2023 with 120 booths, expected to attract 50,000 visitors, but the actual number was “unimaginably” crowded with more than 100,000 visitors in 4 days.
