According to new calculations by two economists, Maxime Sbaihi and Erwann Tison, in 2026, working people will stop getting up in the morning to pay the bill for retirees from May 4. In 1970, the weight of the oldest – who were fewer in number and lived shorter lives – weighed much less: they had to work until February 27 just to pay the bill for intergenerational redistribution.

“This date must serve as a thermometer to measure the efforts made by active people,” assures Maxime Sbaihi, economist and author of “Empty Swings”. They are making a historic effort! In the 1970s, people doubled their standard of living in fifteen years. In 2026, it takes 80 years! The system asphyxiates those who work. »
