Пентагон расширит производство компонентов для систем противоракетной обороны Patriot и THAAD

The US Department of Defense has signed a framework agreement with Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to expand production of components for the Patriot PAC-3 and THAAD missile defense systems. This was reported by Reuters.

According to the agreement, production of Patriot interceptors is planned to be tripled, and THAAD complexes – quadrupled. The agreement also provides for the attraction of an additional manufacturer of solid propellant motors for PAC-3 interceptor missiles for Patriot complexes and an increase in the production of safe ignition devices.

The cost of the agreement was not disclosed. The decision was made against the backdrop of depleting American arms stockpiles due to conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine.

Last week, the US Army also awarded Lockheed Martin a $58.6 billion contract to produce Patriot interceptor missiles.
