Penelope protagonist of the new Disney adventure, the myth of Ulysses told through women

In this new chapter, however, the perspective changes radically: at the center of the story there is not Ulysses, but Penelope, reinterpreted by Daisy Duck. Silent but decisive, Papernelope becomes the true protagonist “behind the scenes”, capable of influencing Paperulisse’s (Donald Duck) journey and indirectly guiding his destiny. In the story, after spending days weaving and unraveling her web, Papernelope decides to set off on an adventure, joining her beloved Paperulisse. In the meantime, the hero’s journey turns out to be full of obstacles and trials, which are overcome also thanks to the discreet but decisive help of his companion, a constant and invisible presence in his undertakings. The volume thus proposes a rereading of the Odyssey through a strong female perspective, which enhances Penelope’s role as an active and strategic figure, inserting her into a creative dialogue between classical myth and Disney imagery.

To complete the work there is the comic story “Topodissea”, written by Roberto Gagnor and drawn by Donald Soffritti, which offers a new interpretation of the Homeric epic with the characters of Mickey Mouse and Duckburg as protagonists. The main story is narrated by the voice of Omeraldo, the Disney version of the journalist and writer Aldo Cazzullo, who accompanies the reader inside the story. The project also involves a creative team of consolidated authors and illustrators from the Italian Disney scene: Augusto Macchetto, author of numerous titles in the series; Giada Perissinotto, illustrator and character designer; and Andrea Cagol, responsible for the digital coloring of the series. The series is part of the broader editorial project of Disney Libri, the licensee division of Giunti Editore, which has been publishing titles linked to the Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Lucas brands in Italy since 2014, with a production that combines international content and original Italian creations aimed at a transversal audience, from the youngest to adult enthusiasts.
