Formentor Foundation brings together for the first time in a volume essays dedicated to the writers honored with the award

 The Feltrinelli Anagrama Foundation and the Formentor Foundation have published ‘The Formentor canon. A history of literature, a volume that brings together for the first time the essays dedicated to the writers distinguished by the Formentor Prize from its founding in 1961 to the present.

Thus, the book reconstructs the intellectual history of this award and offers, at the same time, a reflection on contemporary literature through the works and authors that have shaped its canon.

Furthermore, the essays weigh the set of the author’s work, places it on the map of contemporary literature, defines its aesthetic values and its contribution to history of the novel, but also adds biographical observations of interest.

Each of the writers is presented by an essayist, critic, translator or reference writer. For example, Annie Ernaux, Formentor Prize 2019 and Nobel Prize in Literature 2022, dedicates her essay to Nathalie Sarraute, Formentor Prize 1964.

On the other hand, in this volume are the contributions by Félix de Azúa, Andreu Jaume, Jordi Gracia, Paolo di Paolo, Holger Helbig, Marta Rebón, Elide Pittarello, Christine Künzel, Annie Ernaux, Valerie Miles, Josep Massot, Jordi Amat, Jorge Volpi, Yannick Llored, Juan Luis Cebrián, Aurelio Major, Raquel Fernández Cobo, Victoria Cirlot, José Enrique Ruiz-Domènec, Ernest Wichner, Gustavo Guerrero, Anna Caballé, Jean François Fogel, Elizabeth Skomp, Ramón Andrés, Basilio Baltasar, Marta Segarra and Andrés Ibáñez.
