The count couple Christian and Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig from Tranekær Castle on Langeland are now reacting to the revelations about violence, bullying and violations that have emerged about the boarding school Herlufsholm in the wake of the TV 2 documentary ‘Herlufsholm’s Secrets’.

The couple has had four children, Ditlev, 30, Frederik, 28, Emilia, 24, and Clara, 21, at school as boarding students, and although the count couple says that their children have not had bad experiences at school, they are shocked that hear about the criticisable conditions that have now seen the light of day.

They tell this to Billed-Bladet.

– What has emerged in the documentary is both both shocking and terrible. It is not something we recognize from our four children who have gone to Herlufsholm School, or who we are familiar with. They have had some wonderful school years down there. And they have been so happy to be students at the school, for the experiences they have had and the friends they have made while they have been there. None of our children have experienced what we have seen in the broadcast, it sounds from Countess Mette Ahlefeldt-Laurvig.

She goes on to say that she and her husband, of course, strongly dissociate themselves from the violence and bullying that has seen the light of day, and that it is ‘deeply unfortunate’ and ‘in no way acceptable’ that children and young people are exposed to such things. a school.

At the same time, she calls for the revelations to have consequences for those behind bullying and violations, and for something to be done about the problems at the school.

The count couple are close friends of the Danish royal family, and they are seen regularly at large parties and other events.

We are deeply shaken
The Crown Prince and Crown Princess currently have their eldest son, Prince Christian, enrolled at Herlufsholm, while Princess Isabella will soon be starting ninth grade at the school.

Therefore, the Crown Prince and Crown Princess also commented on the TV 2 documentary and the criticisable conditions described in it, shortly after its release.

‘As parents of a child who goes to Herlufsholm, we are deeply shaken by the testimonies that appear in the current documentary about the school. It is heartbreaking to hear about systematic bullying and about the culture of abuse and violence that many have been a part of, ‘it read in an official statement from the Crown Prince and Crown Princess.

‘It is completely unacceptable. As parents, we expect the school to effectively ensure a culture where everyone is safe and part of the community, and we will in the coming time follow the changes that are obviously necessary. ‘

The documentary about Herlufsholm has since led several parties to convene Minister for Children and Education Pernille Rosenkrantz-Theil (S) for a consultation, where she will answer questions about the conditions at Herlufsholm.

Here, Ekstra Bladet asks Crown Prince Frederik what he thinks about the revelations at Herlufsholm.
