Tennis: Serena und Venus Williams: Neuer Comeback-Versuch terminiert

Tennis star Serena Williams’ recent double comeback alongside her sister Venus has a new date. After the 44-year-old American had to cancel their appearance at Wimbledon due to a knee injury, it should now work out in Cincinnati. As the organizer announced, the Williams sisters will receive a wild card for doubles, while Venus will also receive one for the singles competition. The WTA 1000 tournament begins on August 11th with qualifying games, with the main draw starting two days later.

Serena Williams regretted the double comeback with her sister Venus (46) at Wimbledon a few weeks ago on Instagram. “It breaks my heart,” she wrote. “Returning to competition was a gift, and the opportunity to play alongside Venus again meant everything to me.”

She had previously lost her first singles in almost four years in three sets against the Australian Maya Joint at the London grass classic. Her Instagram post showed Williams wearing a bandage on her right leg and limping.
