General Secretary and President To Lam asked Google experts to support AI development

The former Chairman of Google and a delegation of AI experts are on a working visit to Vietnam to implement collaborative initiatives on artificial intelligence. At the reception on June 5, General Secretary and President To Lam highly appreciated the former Chairman of Google’s contributions to the development of global technology and AI, as well as the cooperation programs that he and the team of experts have implemented with Vietnamese agencies on AI, high technology and innovation.

Vietnam is promoting growth model innovation, using science and technology, innovation and digital transformation as the driving force to improve competitiveness, promote rapid and sustainable development, aiming to become a developed, high-income country by 2045. General Secretary and President asked Mr. Eric Schmidt and the team of experts to continue to support Vietnam in connecting international resources, technology businesses, investment funds, research institutes and the world’s leading experts.

The General Secretary and President also asked delegation members, including Mr. Christopher Nguyen, General Director of Aitomatic, to continue calling on Vietnamese experts, intellectuals and technology entrepreneurs abroad to accompany and contribute knowledge, experience and resources to the country’s development.

On behalf of the delegation, Mr. Eric Schmidt highly appreciated Vietnam’s development as well as the vision and determination to innovate of Vietnamese leaders, especially in the fields of science, technology and innovation.

According to the former Chairman of Google, Vietnam has many favorable conditions to develop AI, especially young, dynamic human resources, the ability to adapt quickly and an increasingly favorable environment for innovation. He also expressed confidence that AI will contribute more to Vietnam’s growth.

Mr. Eric Schmidt said that he and Vietnamese partners are implementing AI cooperation initiatives, such as: Tapestry national multi-platform model project (application in power grid management); AI application activities in general education…

He affirmed that he will use his experience and cooperation network in technology to connect Vietnam with suitable partners, thereby supporting the promotion of digital transformation, AI development and enhancing innovation capacity.

The former Chairman of Google also expressed his desire to continue to exchange with Vietnamese agencies, businesses, research institutes, universities and experts to seek practical cooperation directions in human resource training, research – development, support for technology businesses and AI applications in socio-economic fields.

He said he would strive to make practical contributions to the development of science, technology and AI in Vietnam, adding that the scope for cooperation between Vietnamese and American partners is still very large.

Eric Schmidt is an American technology entrepreneur, who held the position of CEO of Google from 2001 to 2011 and Chairman of Google until 2015. He is a highly influential figure in the global technology industry. In recent years, he has focused on research, consulting and promoting the application of artificial intelligence.
