Hogwarts Legacy: a new game set in the world of Harry Potter was supposed to come out last year, but it was still moved to 2022. It seems that the wait was worth it, because we Warner Bros. at last week’s Sony presentation he was treated to a 14-minute gameplay show and revealed a mountain of detail.
It has also been confirmed that the game is coming towards the end of the year.
Although the show is a mix of gameplay and directed scenes, it was enough to find out roughly what Hogwarts’ own combat and exploration system will be like. The story of the game takes us back to the late 1800s, where you step into the boots of a fifth-year wizard-student, and you’ll deal with an alleged goblin rebellion led by the goblin Ranrok.
Dark wizards also work with goblins, so it remains to be seen in which direction the story will go. The plot is therefore set before the Harry Potter event, and as a development studio Avalanche Software said, this is so that the legendary story you create in the game would not be overshadowed by any other hero.
In the presentation, we can see how the whole of Hogwarts will be available for research, and we will explore the whole world faster and flying on a broom. There’s also a combat system that’s cinematically attractive, but we don’t yet know if it will fit well given that the enemies we see in gameplay are quite static.
Upgrading skills and gathering things with drinks, but also a walk through the hidden corridors of Hogwarts will further arouse the nostalgia of fans who will finally have full freedom of research, given that this is an action RPG open world. Apart from Hogwarts itself, the village of Hogsmeade will also be available, and there is, among other well-known locations, the Forbidden Forest.
Developers and creators of the Harry Potter universe JK Rowling they are quite distant, which may be due to her transphobic comments a few years ago. Still, it is very likely that she will also make money from this game.
The Hogwarts Legacy, if not delayed again, arrives for the 2022 holidays, and will be available on PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X and S consoles, older Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch and PCs.
