The classified SS documents on Erich Priebke, the Nazi criminal who fled to Argentina and hid in Bariloche after the fall of Hitler

Beyond his lies, he never stopped being, above all, a bloodthirsty captain of the SS, Adolf Hitler’s elite force, that spread terror in the Italy of Duce Benito Mussolini. Priebke died in 2013, at age 100, in Rome. He was under house arrest after being sentenced to life imprisonment for the massacre of 335 civilians in the Ardeatine Trenches, in 1944, a massacre carried out by Nazi officers in retaliation for the death of 30 German soldiers.

Now, for the first time, the German newspaper Die Zeit made public the secret documents of Hitler’s fearsome SS, among which there are a dozen writings about the Nazi who lived hidden in Bariloche for decades.

Clarín compiled, translated and performed each of the roles with the help of the artificial intelligence to reconstruct the path of the Nazi criminal who surprised the world when he was found in 1994 in Argentina by a news team from ABC, a United States television station.

The documents about Priebke, among which there are membership cards, a handwritten letter, several communications with promotions and more, finish dispelling any doubts that still existed, if any, about his participation during the Holocaust as SS, the “blindly devoted shock troop” made up of “the best selection of the most loyal fanatics,” as Hitler called it.
