During the three.day strike, almost 280 Ryanair flights are canceled

During the three-day strike by Belgian cabin crews, Irish airline Ryanair will cancel 280 flights to and from Charleroi and Zaventem airports. According to data on both airports’ websites, that amounts to over 60% of scheduled flights.

On each of the three strike days – Friday, Saturday, and Sunday – ten flights (both coming and departing) were canceled at Brussels Airport. That’s nearly a third of the usual number of Ryanair flights between Zaventem and Amsterdam.

The problem is worse at Brussels South Charleroi Airport, where Ryanair is by far the most important airline. The strike has resulted in the cancellation of at least 80 flights per day, or roughly two-thirds of Ryanair’s typical service to and from the Hainaut airport.

Flight attendants and stewards for Ryanair in Belgium began a three-day strike on Friday, mainly in protest of the lack of a new collective labor agreement on pay and premiums. There is also unhappiness since Ryanair, although agreeing to obey Belgian labor law three years ago, has refused to comply with a number of “fundamental conditions.” Ryanair described the strike as “pointless.”
