British actor Anthony Head has died at the age of 72, says the BBC.
Head rose to international fame in the late 1990s from the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The librarian Rupert Giles, played by him, served as a mentor and father figure to the main character of the series, Buffy. The series became one of the most popular of its time.
Head is also remembered for central roles in series Ted Lasso, Little Britain and Merlin. In Britain, he became known already in the 1980s for NescafĂ©’s TV commercials.
Daughters of the actor Emily and Daisy Head told that their father died of complications caused by pneumonia in peaceful circumstances. Head’s longtime spouse Sarah Fisher passed away in December 2025.
