Actor Kari Sorvali has died

Sorvali acted in films and in a 1980s comedy series Waste pipe. His most recent roles were in serials Heart rate and Emperor Aarnio and in the movie Good brother.

Sorval’s death was reported earlier Stop.

“Great gratitude is the main thing present for the shared journey”, Sorval’s wife, actress Miitta Sorvali says on the phone.

The Sorvals met at Theater School. They managed to be together for almost fifty years and had two children and three grandchildren.

“The sadness is that he left at the age of 74. I wish he had been kept here much longer.”

Sorvali was intensely ill for six months. The family was there all the time. For the last four months, he was allowed to stay at home.

“Even though he died, he got to go home, and we were able to be very close after all. It felt really good.”

Miitta from Sorval her husband had the ability to stop. Kari Sorval was in no hurry if we started talking. He was modest. He didn’t give interviews because he wanted to live in peace.

The life of the spouses was enriched by shared humor. The spontaneous couple unexpectedly went on car trips, organized a two-person record drive and looked for secluded cafes.

“Our question was ‘Should we go there?’ The other always answered: ‘Yes!'”

Sorvali didn’t focus on completing his career, but put himself into his roles with great ambition.

Terrible horror movie Moon Sonata remained a favorite job. For his role, he won the Jussi award for best actor in 1989.

Director Olli Soinio gave Sorval the freedom to create his own language. The film still has plenty of fans, whom Miitta Sorvali has also encountered.

Verbally and the musically talented Sorvali wrote lyrics and sang in the 1970s in the comedy band Johan Lewis & Korjaa Bois. Among others, fellow theater students played alongside Matti Pellonpää and Kari Väänänen.

“Kari’s soul came out in her singing voice. There was something really delicate about it.”

Sorvali was handy with his hands: he repaired houses and built toys for children. Miitta Sorvali already noticed the skill when she received woolen socks woven by her husband as an engagement gift.

Kari Sorval was granted an artist’s pension in 2014. Even in retirement, nature was important to Sorval. He skied a lot.

“If I had won the lottery, I would have donated a large part to forest protection,” says Miitta Sorvali.
