There was a brief altercation with the security personnel. Egyptian fans had gathered outside the hotel to greet the players and get photos and autographs.

Police and Egyptian association confirmed incident

Dallas police confirmed the operation. They were called around midday on Thursday at the request of the hotel’s security service after a person without event accreditation tried to gain entry. The situation was clarified on site and has now been resolved, it was said. The Egyptian Football Association also reportedly said it was just a short incident that was quickly resolved.

Egypt will face Australia in the round of 16 of the World Cup today (8 p.m./CEST).
