HIFK acquired Jake Leschyshyn, who played in the NHL

The contract covers the 2026–27 season. The club informed about it on their website.

Vegas Golden Knights’ 2017 NHL draft second round pick (62nd) played the 2020-2025 seasons in the Golden Knights and New York Rangers organizations, where they accumulated a total of 77 NHL games and in them the power 2+4=6.

In the AHL, Leschyshyn has represented Henderson Silver Knights, Hartford Wolf Pack, Chicago Wolves and most recently Rochester Americans. From last season, he has 13+9=22 in 66 regular season games in Rochester.

The 180-centimeter and 89-kilogram center has played a total of 364 matches in the AHL with an output of 70+65=135.

For two The Canadian, who describes himself as the center forward of the direction, is excited about the move to Finland.

“This is the first time I’m living outside of Canada or the U.S. I’ve heard a lot of good things about Helsinki, so it makes the change much easier,” commented Leschyshyn in the club’s press release.

“I don’t know much about Helsinki yet, but I know it’s the hometown of the happiest people in the world. I’ve also heard a lot of good things about the city’s food and saunas,” the attacker said.

The club said that Leschyshyn will arrive in Helsinki as soon as the work permits have been completed.

Many men’s ice hockey league teams have signed multiple one-season contracts this summer. The reason is the upcoming 17-team super season, at the end of which only 14 will continue at the highest league level.
