Microsoft is ready to take a new step in its artificial intelligence strategy. During the latest conference call on financial results, CEO Satya Nadella confirmed that the company is developing a new “super app” based on Copilot, intended to bring together in a single platform all the main AI features offered today by the Microsoft ecosystem.
The new application will be available by the end of the year and will integrate experiences dedicated to both consumer users and the corporate sector. The goal is to offer a unique environment in which to use AI chat, programming tools and intelligent agent-based features.
During the investor meeting, Nadella explained how Copilot is evolving rapidly: “Copilot is transforming from just chat to Cowork and Autopilots. This quarter we will bring all these experiences, including coding, into one super app. It’s a major step forward and I can’t wait to share more details.”
The CEO’s statements confirm the rumors that have emerged in recent months, according to which Microsoft is working on an application capable of merging Copilot, GitHub Copilot, Copilot Cowork and the Autopilot system, which allows AI agents to perform tasks in an increasingly autonomous way.
The move comes at a time of strong competition in the artificial intelligence sector. In fact, OpenAI also recently announced ChatGPT Work, a new application that combines ChatGPT with its own AI programming tool Codex, a sign that the market is moving towards complete platforms rather than separate tools.
The announcement of the super app came together with Microsoft’s excellent financial results. In the last quarter the company recorded 90 billion dollars in revenues, driven above all by the growth of cloud services and solutions based on artificial intelligence, confirming once again how AI represents one of the main growth engines for the Redmond giant.
