The Telegram messaging application has been removed from the App Store in several countries for a few hours, after identifying the violation of certain Apple store guidelines, which prohibit the distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM, for its acronym in English).
Telegram suddenly disappeared from Apple’s app and video game store this Monday, August 3, for a brief period in several countries, and He later reappeared at 10:45 p.m. ET. (at 04:45 hours in peninsular time).
After this episode, those from Cupertino have explained that the withdrawal of the instant messaging ‘app’ has been due to the fact that they identified the distribution of content that “violates the guidelines” of the App Store, specifically, in relation to the prohibition of child sexual abuse material.
“The application was later reinstated, after The developer will immediately remove the content and suspended the user who had published it,” Apple explained in statements to Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman, who shared them on X (formerly Twitter).
For its part, Telegram has responded to this explanation from Apple through its official account on the social network X itself, questioning whether “this position will apply equally to all other apps in the store in the future.”
Along with this, Telegram has also shared a link to its security page, where it explains all the measures and mechanisms that it applies to the ‘app’ to block and delete millions of content that violate their terms of service.
In statements to Europa Press, the messaging platform has spoken out on the matter, alleging that, Once Apple reported that a user was sharing child sexual abuse material, he was identified and blocked “immediately.” Likewise, it has specified that it has independently eliminated more than 337,900 groups and channels related to CSAM in 2026.

This is not the first time that Apple has removed Telegram from its store due to the distribution of prohibited content, since in 2018 it was also removed from the App Store for similar reasons, when child pornography content was detected in the application by its users.
