AZOP warns citizens: Do not open these messages, you could run out of money!

“Phishing refers to Internet fraud in the form of fake e-mail messages that appear to be sent by legitimate organizations, and which induce the recipient to share personal, financial, or security information,” the AZOP press release states.

In such messages, the person is most often asked to click on a link and enter personal/financial information so that fraudsters can gain access to usernames, passwords or credit card information.

“First of all, it is necessary to check whether the sender’s e-mail address, telephone number or website match the official contacts of the organization in whose name the message is allegedly sent. If you are not sure of the credibility of the received message, contact the organization through officially published communication channels,” says AZOP.

By exfiltrating personal data (name and surname, e-mail address, phone number, etc.) from the systems of various organizations, an increased occurrence of phishing attacks is possible.

The agency emphasizes that it is carrying out supervisory procedures over the managers and executors of processing that have been involved in incidents in recent days, and will inform the public about them upon learning more information.
