Today, the exhumation of the body of Muamer Zukorlić

The exhumation was ordered by the decision of the High Court in Novi Pazar, after the family submitted the findings of foreign laboratories to the prosecutor’s office in this city, which expressed suspicion that the former mufti was poisoned with heavy metals. An international expertise composed of forensic autopsies from Bosnia and Herzegovina and Germany was also approved.

Media and citizens are not allowed access in the village of Orlje, and the exhumation of the body, according to unofficial information, will be attended by only a few members of the Zukorlic family.

After the exhumation, the body of the deceased mufti will be transferred to the General Hospital in Novi Pazar, where the necessary analyzes will be performed.

The president of the Justice and Reconciliation Party (SPP) and the son of the late Muamer Zukorlic, Usama, said today that the exhumation of his father’s body was a difficult moment for the family, but that the need for the truth about the cause of death was ahead of emotions. He told reporters in Orel, where the body of the former SPP leader and Sandzak mufti is being exhumed today, that he was grateful to Serbia’s judicial authorities for respecting the family’s demands for an international expertise to oversee the process.

“There is the director of forensic medicine from Sarajevo, Professor Nermin Sarajlic, and a professor from Hamburg,” said Usame Zukorlic.

He announced that Muamer Zukorlic, after the autopsy, will be buried in the harem of the Altun-alem mosque in Novi Pazar.

“From the moment he was buried in Orel, which was the wish of the family, we have suffered pressure from friends and public opinion because we allowed the great man to be buried far from the city. Dear God, he ordered an exhumation to take place. one historical mistake and that the mufti is buried in the harem of the Altun-alem mosque, with other greats, as he deserves “, stated Usame Zukorlić.

The exhumation and autopsy of Muamer Zukorlić’s body is being carried out as part of the investigation led by the Higher Prosecutor’s Office in Novi Pazar, following a criminal complaint filed by Usame Zukorlić with the Republic Public Prosecutor’s Office on suspicion that his father did not die a natural death.

He handed over to the prosecution the findings of two international laboratories which show, as he said in a public address, that his father was poisoned.

Usame pointed out that one laboratory determined that there was a high probability that Muammar was poisoned by heavy metals, and the other that he was poisoned by food.

The former Sandzak mufti passed away suddenly on November 6, at the age of 51.

A heart attack was then cited as the cause of death.
