UNS opposes the call for a ban on the IN4S portal
The Association of Journalists of Serbia (UNS) protested today against the call of the Democratic Party of Socialists of Montenegro (DPS) to ban the work of the IN4S portal.

UNS reminded that the European Federation of Journalists expressed fear of the consequences of the spiral of censorship on freedom of expression in Europe due to the decision to ban the work of Tasha Tudej (RT) and Sputnik.

“UNS believes that regulatory bodies in the region will not succumb to political pressure and participate in media censorship and will respect the achieved standards in freedom of speech and expression,” UNS said, emphasizing that the media must share the fate of human rights and freedoms.

They added that restrictions or bans on broadcasting a media outlet are the same as restricting or suspending one’s right to freedom of speech and opinion.

“European values strongly oppose the idea of banning the work of the media. Citizens will always be better informed if they have the opportunity to get information from several, even conflicting sources,” UNS said.
